These keto pumpkin energy balls are packed with protein and taste like fall!
Let’s Have A Ball
And when I say ball, I mean it in both the fun way and the healthy keto-friendly snack ball way.
Did you ever go through the phase where you loved those little “healthy” protein balls? The ones made with dates and honey and chia seeds that were super sweet and delicious but had about 25 grams of sugar per ball???
Yum but also YIKES, right?
I really loved the snacky convenience of the protein balls, but once those little suckers actually heightened my sweet tooth AND gave me a cavity—they had to go. Long story short, I couldn’t live without them so I had to come up with an even better alternative. Allow me to introduce you to the low carb bliss ball—Way less sugar, way more bliss.
Low Carb Bliss Balls
The dealio with making a low carb “bliss ball” or protein ball is all in the dry-to-wet ingredient ratio. Since we don’t have oats to absorb moisture or dates to make it all stick together, we need to improvise.
These keto-friendly balls are made with:
💚Natural Peanut Butter (that isn’t runny)
💚Chocolate Protein Powder or vanilla but the chocolate is my fave
💚White Chia Seeds, for prettiness and health
💚Choczero Caramel Syrup or powdered Swerve in a pinch
💚Real Pumpkin Puree, because it’s festive as heck
Low Carb Protein Powders Are Gross
True story: I struggle with protein powders because I believe that most of them taste like dusty garbage, but maybe that’s just me? Anyway, if you are also struggling to find a great protein powder and you aren’t dead set on a list of “perfect” ingredients, then I suggest Chocolate or Vanilla Low Carb Slimfast. HEAR ME OUT before you click away—the flavor is unparalleled.
If you are one of those people that can stomach “cleaner” protein powder, I love you for that and you should do it. I am not one of those people.
It’s important to know (and love) yourself.
You could also use a “clean” protein powder like Vega for vegan diets or a collagen-based powder for those who do animal products. Those are the only ones I’ve found don’t taste absolutely awful.
Again, do what tastes good. If you don’t like the protein powder in shake form, you won’t like it in your balls, either.
Keto Protein Ball Extras
Protein powders aside, these balls also have some other nutritious ingredients including White Chia Seeds (my personal favorite) and Pure Pumpkin Puree. Not pumpkin pie filling!!! Because I’ve done that accidentally…
There’s also a healthy sprinkling of Sugar-Free White Chocolate Chips which makes this recipe even more amazing and snack-worthy!
Want More Healthy Snacks?
- 1/2 cup Natural Peanut butter, not the drippy kind
- 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder *see notes*
- 3 tbsp Pumpkin Puree
- 1 tbsp White Chia Seeds
- 2-3 tbsp Choczero Syrup-maple or caramel are my fave
- 1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 pinch Sea Salt
- 3 tbsp Sugar Free White Chocolate Chips
- Combine all of the ingredients except the white chocolate in a bowl and mix well. Once the mixture is smooth, fold in the white chocolate chips.
- Chill for 20 minutes, then scoop into balls, rolling them between your palms until smooth and place them on a plate or tray lined with parchment.
- Store covered in the refrigerator to keep firm!
Protein Powder is pretty broad, I know. My suggestion is to use a brand that you love the taste of in shake form. The flavor will definitely come through so choose your powder wisely!
I like the flavor and texture of these balls with the liquid sweetener, but feel free to use Powdered Erythritol if you'd like! Start with 3 tbsp and adjust to your level of sweetness!
