SO. MANY. USES.
I’ll admit, I’ve been riding the coconut oil hype train for a while.
This was me up until a week ago:
“Hey, person I know, how have you been? Oh, you have irritated skin? You should try Coconut Oil. A Yeast infection? Coconut Oil bath. Wow, you have dry skin too? You should read my blog…and try a Simple Sugar Scrub. Having marital troubles? You two need to get some coconut oil in your relationship.”
Yes, I was that irritating person.
Thank you to all of my friends and family who haven’t punched me in the face yet.
Blinded by the internet articles that circulate their way through social media, I hyped the crap out of coconut oil. Well, guess what? Coconut oil doesn’t fix everything. It is true that the oil has many properties that are enticing but if you try to cure a yeast infection with it, chances are you’ll just end up with a slippery (and still itchy) vagina. Sorry.
BUT…Coconut oil is excellent at many things and I love it for the plethora of tasks and ailments it can successfully soothe. My favorites are those pertaining to sensitive skin;
Eye Makeup Remover.
Utilize coconut oil and some cotton pads to melt away your makeup and reap some pretty sweet benefits in the process!
- Less rubbing: Oil naturally dissolves most makeup products, making them easy to wipe away. The less you tug at your sensitive eye area, the more good you are doing in the fight against wrinkles. *Waterproof items are not as easily removed by oil due to the chemical nature and may need higher power remover…with chemicals.*
- Soothe and Hydrate: No harsh cleanser means less irritation, and natural oils like coconut can benefit the skin’s moisture barrier.
- Less is More: It takes a very small amount of oil to do a big job. I tend to use too much and consequently get oil in my eye balls. It doesn’t hurt, but it is irritating nonetheless. Also, In the long run it just may save you some dolla dolla bills.
Since you are probably all hyper about coconut oil like I was, I bet you have some lying around your kitchen. I use the same stuff I cook with, LoAnna 100% Pure Coconut Oil, and keep it in a mini glass jelly jar. As for the cotton pads, any ol’ brand will do. I get them at the grocery store next to the cotton swabers.
Now grab a clean container, scoop some oil, and for goodness sake don’t get it in your eyes.
And stay tuned for a very honest opinion on another new craze to hit the cleansing world, micellar water. Spoiler alert: It is pretty legit.
I’ve recently written a blog post with an infographic about the many uses of coconut oil! This think is so good for so many things indeed!
Enjoy yours! 😊xx, Annie | Annie’s Beauty
I will have to check it out!!!
Aww! Thank you lovely! You’ll find so many more uses for coconut oil there! Please let me know what you think about that! Lots of xx
Definitely! As a Nutritionist, I like to think I’m pretty up-to-date on the health benefits of MCT oils but the beauty benefits are something I’m still experiencing!
Definitely recommend a few to try them yourself… Not to be used as a face moisturiser though because the molecule of this oil is way bigger than the one in the oils on your face, therefore rather difficult to absorb… And might cause clogged and enlarged pores.
Have fun with your coconut oil lovely! 😘
This sound’s like me a few year’s ago. 🙂
I’m still trying to find something coconut oil “isn’t” great for lol
Haha So true! Now if it could just cure this cold I’m battling… 😉
A old fashion Hot Toddy should work! (Sorry to hear you’re sick.)
Do you have any whiskey or rye in the house?
-8oz boiled water
– 1 Tbs of sugar
– 1 Shot glass (or 2) of Whiskey or Rye
– Slice of lemon
(Drink while hot before bed. The sugar and liquor should make you sweat out the cold/flu. Can drink two if desired.)
I don’t drink but if I get a cold or flu darn rights I break out the Rye Lol!
Feel better soon beautiful. xx
Ok, for one, I ALWAYS have whiskey in the house. For two, YES. If I weren’t at work I would mix one now!!! I think we can be great friends… <3
Well, you know what ya gotta do when you get home then. Crack out that whiskey woman!! I’m feeling the friend thing all the way… 😉 So bottom’s up when you get home..
And MWAH!! For being a trooper and going to work sick! xx
Oh I will! And I’ll raise my glass to you for giving me the idea. Until then I’m making everyone in the office nervous that I might give them the plague 😛 😉
Omg…Bahahaha!!! Ppl are so scared & jumpy nowadays. If I were you id probably be a brat & make statements that I think I’m dying..lolols! ; -P
My grandmother swore by her Hot Toddy’s and they always worked. (I end up half in the bag when I drink them but gotta say they do work.)
So you’ll have to tag me on twitter to let me know how you made out tomorrow. 😉 <3
I think I’d rather enjoy being a little tipsy tonight since being sick ruins my sleep! I’ll definitely let you know if I still sick or just hungover!!!!
One or two of them should knock you out cold. If you wake up super sweaty as in soaking your bed sheet it means the surgar & booze did their job. Hopefully you don’t wake up hungover. If I see a “@trickynix You B*%&h, I’m hungover!!” tomorrow on twitter, I’m apologizing ahead of time. LMAO! ;D
Hahaha Deal! I might only have enough whiskey for one so I just might survive! If not…I’m calling in sick.
Are you alive? Or alive as in feeling better? I remember when having a sick day in bed felt soooo good. Except the being sick part that is…hahaha! xx
I’m alive…feeling slightly better…but did have a lil nip last night and it was gooooood 🙂
Happy to hear it! There’s something comforting having a little ole nip of whiskey before bed.. 🙂
I’d like one tonight but unfortunately I have too much to accomplish tomorrow. Two nights in a row is pushing it!
Agreed. Pushing it can be fun… If it were a Thursday you could probably get away with having another nip tonight but sadly it’s only Tuesday… Super glad you are feeling a tiny bit better especially if you’ve a lot scheduled tomorrow.
I freakin love coconut oil so much I love using it as a make up remover and only started when mine ran out, also body moisturiser it is amazinggggg xxx
Yes!!! And it’s heavenly on lips, too! Who cares if it doesn’t cure everything…it is truly a great beauty product!!!
Coconut oil is a lifestyle choice. It’s amazing for so many things!
Haha nicely put!! I eat it almost every day and it is on my face nearly every night 🙂
